Information Entered by a Visitor
An address or owner name entered into a search box is sent to the outside provider that runs that search. This site does not retain a search history on its own servers. A message sent to the County Clerk’s published address goes to that public office, not to this site; only information included in a message to the site operator would be received here and used to respond.
Basic Technical Logs
The hosting service may log an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and request times. Those logs support site operation and traffic review. Basic analytics or advertising measurement may also use cookies or similar tools where enabled.
How the Information Is Used
Technical data is used to run the site, resolve faults, review general traffic, and improve the reference pages. We do not sell a visitor list or make individual profiles from it.
County Portals and Other Links
Links lead to the Marion County Assessor, County Clerk land-record directory, Sheriff’s Tax Office, WV Property Viewer, and other services. Each destination sets its own data practices. Information typed into a linked portal or sponsored search tool is subject to that provider’s terms.
Service Providers and Required Disclosure
Hosting and support providers may process routine server logs. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the technical information described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires it, or when needed to protect the service or comply with law.
Safeguards and Retention
The site uses an encrypted connection. Logs are kept for the operating and review needs described above, then may be removed. Because the site has no account system, it does not keep a visitor password or account profile.
Children’s Information
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly seek personal information from anyone under 18. Contact the operator if a minor has sent information so it can be reviewed and removed where appropriate.
Requests About Information
West Virginia’s consumer-information security law addresses notice after certain data breaches; it is not a general website access or deletion statute. The state’s FOIA exemptions include some personal information held by public bodies. This site holds little visitor data, but a request about it may be sent through the Contact page. A deed, assessment, tax, or parcel record held by a Marion County or state office must be corrected or addressed through that custodian.
Changes to This Notice
A revised notice will appear here if the site’s data practices change. Continued use after a new version is posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
